Yacht Club Root Beer

Bottle and Label: Clear bottle with a nice label featuring an anchor and lighthouse overlooking an ocean

Ingredients: Carbonated Natural Artesian Water, pure cane sugar, natural and artificial root beer flavor, caramel color, and citric acid

Smell: Very pleasing smell from the bottle with wintergreen being the strongest and some hints of licorice and vanilla

Carbonation: Medium-low carbonation that is well balanced. This is a brew that is smooth but has enough bite to never taste flat

Color: Dark amber

Head: Medium head that is not very foamy and dissipates quickly

Flavor: Very nice traditional root beer flavor that is just slightly sweeter (almost honey-like) than most brews and has a nice balanced wintergreen and licorice flavor. The extra sweetness also results in a very slightly medicinal aftertaste but it is not strong enough to detract from the flavor

Conclusion: Yacht Club Root Beer is a fine example of a brew that just works. There’s really nothing fancy here, just good old-fashioned root beer flavor. I’m drinking this on a warm evening and I find it particularly enjoyable. This brew would be a fine one to include on a Memorial Day picnic as the strong, traditional flavor would go well with a meal
